I was completely knackered on this day so I figured I’d do my first self portrait. this is me having just come in the door.
Camera Held at an arms length away autofocus and snap.
Nothing special but it’s a photo…
I decided that I’d take my 365 picture that incorporated a person. A while ago I was reading an article which said something about taking photos of people jumping was a good way to catch the childish spirit of them. I think it might have been an article about taking wedding photos, but it still applies.
The only thing I don’t like about this picture is the little sliver of wall and ceiling that breaks the red curtain… I could actually have cropped it off as Annabel’s hand is still within the red area.
This is a doll Annabel got given for her birthday I decided to make it the subject of todays 365. It’s a pain in the arse to phograph something so shiny… I don’t have any specialist lighting gear so the best I could do was move about the room and switch on and off the ambient lighting to try and avoid the glare.
Initially I tried to photo her/it in front of the plain red wall as recently painted in another of my 365 photos. That didn’t seem to work the photo kept one coming out too dark. Instead I moved it to the other side of the room and decided to use a fan as a backdrop.
I think I need a polarising filter to stop the glare from spoiling my photos… Other than that I really like this picture.
Camera Tossing this morning and thought I’d try it myself. I wasn’t going to use my DSLR for this as Camera Tossing unsurprisingly requires you to toss your camera.
I had to mess around with the settings of my 10 year old Sony Cybershot S85 for ages to figure out how to get this to work. The damned thing won’t let you change the exposure compensation even in full manual mode.
I ended up having to put the camera in timer mode focusing with the lights on to fix the exposure compensation at +something then hitting the shutter button and switching the light off. Timing the throw so the camera is in the air for duration of the exposure took some practice too.
Not really an inspired photo here. We went to Paisley and bought a sofa suite and walked back to Glasgow (it only took about an hour).
I’d taken my camera with me so ensure that I had something to post as a 365, nothing inspired me so I took a bunch of photo’s of the ferry which took us across from Renfrew to Glasgow.
This Ferry is at times a god send, it gets us to the other side of the river and lets us spend lots of money at Brae Head… No wait… Anyway it’s useful for getting there and it’s a nice if ridiculously short ride to the other side. There are swans there pretty much year round. Maybe at some point I’ll photograph the swans as part of my 365.
I took this of a fan on our wall, mainly because I’d spent the last 20 mins trying to figure out something to take a picture of for my 365 before it was tomorrow.
I like the spread of the characters I think I could have placed the arc better though.
The grainy-ness of the background is actually on the fan and not due to the picture.
I tried to take a picture of Donald Dewar Surveying his kingdom here. It kinda works, this is a slightly longer exposure which blurred the people in it. I think maybe I should have blurred them some more.
Not my best photo that red light is a pain in the ass Now I know why people taking photos of the Christmas lights on Buchanan street take is from the entrance to the galleries outside Sainsburies rather than the steps of the concert hall. Another one to add to my list of “I’ll try this again”
I’m not really happy with this image… The wavy bench could have taken up more space and I’d like to have angled it towards the Tardis but I took the picture in a hurry so didn’t really bother with composition.
Aside from that there is also a really bad reflection on the top right corner of the tardis and the tardis is off at an angle… My understanding is that I could solve the relection if I had a polarizing filter.
The light is a bit blue which is caused by the street lights but I quite like that effect… I may try to retake this photo another day when I have more time and there are less people on Buchanan street. Maybe using a tripod?
At 11 O’Clock today I was a bit worried that I hadn’t taken a photo for my 365, I Whipped out my camera on my way home only to discover that I had forgotten my memory card in my laptop in my office.
Luckily to quote Faramir from 300 “The gods saw fit to grant me with another” and I had a spare in my camera bag.
I’ve always thought that the university building is beautiful, but the way it’s lit up combined with the barren trees makes it look really creepy.
