North Korean man executed for using a mobile phone…

In North Korea it’s apparently illegal to use mobile phones. The punishement? Death by Firing squad… Makes Saudi Arabia look like a Liberal Paradise…

A guy called his friend in South Korea and complained about how rubbish it was in North Korea, the police found him using cell phone signal detectors, and they tortured him then put him in front of a firing squad.

Dawn of the Dreadfuls, the book, the trailer….

I’m not sure when they started releasing trailers for books, but this is the second Trailer I’ve seen for a book by Seth Grahame-Smith an author who seems to thrive on adding B movie monsters to classic literature.

Dawn of the Dreadfuls (Quirk Classics) is a prequel to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Classic Regency Romance-now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem! (Quirk Classics) but unlike the original is a completely original work of Fiction. (P&P&Z just had extra stuff stuffed in between the original Jane Austen work to add zombies).

Personally I would have used the “Dawn of the X” name to have a tie in with Tess of the D’Urdervilles, rather than use it a a prequel to his P&P&Z.

To be honest these books are probably the only way someone like me will ever get around to reading anything by Austen, as having heard synopsis’ of her works and seen the BBC productions, I find them deathly dull.

18 Geeky Rings

I’m a sucker for anything Pacman related, and this less has no less than two Pacman rings. It also has no more than 2 Pacman rings, but thats besides the point.

There are a bunch of other rings including 3 or so binary rings of varying coolness, and a ring that heats up to 120 degrees once a hour the day before your anniversary ( I really hope that’s 120F and not Centigrade)

18 Uniquely Nerdy Rings ~ Now That’s Nifty.

On a side not I disagree with the Nerdy Classification, they are Geeky not nerdy. Okay a couple are Nerdy…

12 Hiking Gizmos That Make Climbing Everest Easy | Simply Hike Blog

An interesting article on 12 Gadgets that would allow even the most unfit person to climb Mt. Everest. The thing that amuses me is that number 11 is a Nintendo DS. Because when you are halfway up the tallest (Second tallest?) mountain in the world, your biggest worry is staving off boredom.

I’m not entirely sure the article is completely serious, mainly because a lot of the solutions have huge flaws (I’d love to see someone Sled down Everest)
