At the Canon Expo 2010 Canon demoed this awesome piece of kit that would make my life so much easier. The “Cross Media Station” is a set top box which you put your camera on and it pulls all your images off your camera, groups them by time, location, camera and even the people in them using facial recognition. What’s more it also charges your camera wirelessly. I need this device yesterday! Unfortunately it’s not going to be released for another couple of years.
It plugs into your TV using an HDMI cable and allows you to show slide shows of photos and share them with people.
I don’t know if this would require you to buy a new camera but I assume that Canon will release adaptors for it’s existing models, no doubt they will cost an absolute bomb and there will be no third party alternative, but that’s the wonderful world of photography for you…
