Shortbread Scrabble Cookies

Okay so they are technically Shortbread Valentine Cookies but I refuse to acknowledge the fact that something so cool could be limited to such a rubbish Hallmark Holiday. All you need to do is get someone to bake 98 of these and you could play and actual game of Scrabble. It might work better if you made them bite size rather than full size cookies….

In fact if you also had a set of scrabble letters you could then replace the cookies with real Scrabble letters on the board and eat the cookies you made a word with…

Actually I’m thinking scrabble shot glasses with a number of shots equal to the point value of the letter. Make a word and you have to drink it! I’m not sure how double/triple scores would work  though but it would certainly even the playing field…

Portal – Credits Song ‘Still Alive’

I’m assuming that most people who are interested in this song have heard it, given that the game was released 4 and a bit years ago… But this song puts a smile on my face whenever I hear it so I’m going to just leave it here so you can listen to it.

The song incidentally is by Jonathan Coulton, it’s worth checking out the rest of his music he’s quite funny for example:

It’s particularly relevant to me considering what I do for a living and given that my boss’ name is Rob…

Underskin Body Map

Artist Sam Loman has created a lovely map of the human body in the style of the London Underground map. Okay it’s strictly not in the style of the London Underground Map because not all the lines are either horizontal, vertical or at 90 degrees, but it does have all the major organs as underground stations and the systems the connect them as train lines. Also it looks cool so we can forgive him. It would be interesting to see how it would turn out if he had to follow the design rules of the London Underground map though.

Defenders of the Enchanted Kingdom

Deviant artist steevinlove has been hard at work re-imagining the Disney princesses as Comic book heroines, he’s done a good job and come up with some cringe-worthy names for them… Apparently the inspiration came from the Disney/Marvel merger. I just think it’s awesome he’s included Mary Poppins it’s good to see the British contingent represented…

Re-imagined well known heroines of history, fairy tales and fables coming together as a team of superheroes known as “The Defenders of the Enchanted Kingdom” Their lives have taken mysterious turns and led some down darker paths that have brought them together to protect their magical land.

Shiny LED Cathedral!

A Cathedral Made from 55,000 LED Lights lighting installation art architecture

I thought our LED tree was a little excessive, but no apparently for the 2012 Festival of light in Gent they built an entire cathedral out of LEDs! It’s a bit mental. If you told me about this I would have thought it would look really tacky, but from the pictures it quite beautiful.

The Luminarie De Cagna is an imposing cathedral-like structure that was recently on display at the 2012 Light Festival in Ghent, Belgium. The festival was host to almost 30 exhibitions including plenty of 3D projection mapping, fields of luminous flowers, and a glowing phone booth aquarium, however with 55,000 LEDs and towering 28 meters high the Luminarie De Cagna seems to have stolen the show. Pac-Man Dumplings

YoSushi’s twitter feed linked to this yesterday with the title “Pac-Man Sushi” or rather they didn’t link to this article they linked to an image of this image, I did the grunt work to find the source, and as I expected it’s not sushi they are Chinese Dumplings… From the article:

Pac-Man Shrimp Dumplings are served at Red Farm, a Chinese restaurant in New York City, in this Dec. 13, 2011 photo.

They do look tasty though…

Book Tableware

Like books? Like food, this collection of tableware looks so good you could eat off it… No wait that’s what one normally does with tableware… Um there is nothing written on them but they look good enough to read? I’m apparently having a rubbish day with my metaphors today…

Just as smart and original as any good read, this unique fun-spirited design makes a distinctive statement. Whether stacked or used alone, this pattern sets just the right tone for a wide variety of cuisines.

It looks like you can only buy them by the case (which ranges from 1 to 3 dozen depending on size) I assume that the site is for retailers and not for personal consumption… Still cool tableware…
