I’ve not posted an infographic in a while, so I figured I’d post this graphic about a brief history of Nintendo and Sega. Although I know a lot about the history of Nintendo, having read Game over I don’t actually know anything about the history of Sega.
In fact apart from my bother’s Game Gear and a Saturn I bought a long time after the Saturn was made redundant I’ve never really owned a Sega console. Sure the information here isn’t anything you couldn’t throw together after a half session on Wikipedia, but still it’s a pretty picture, enjoy it…
Words cannot describe how much I wish I had $280 to throw at E-Bay to buy one of these…. Looking at the photo’s on Laughing Squid there are several variants of this the one in the video on Laughing squid is a much smaller version with slightly rubbish looking feet and the one below seems to have stuffed feed and tummy things (What are those things meant to be on Totoro’s tummy?)
If you are crazy enough to buy a Totoro sleeping bag/bed then you are probably crazy enough to want these Soot Sprite (Susuwatari) slippers too!
This Christmas Tree ornament is possibly one of the oddest gifts one could give somone. On the one hand you are essentially giving somone a lump of coal, which is a big Christmas no no, on the other you are giving them one og the cutest things in the world!
They are available to pre-order from Steff Bomb on Etsy and cost just $15 (£9.70) + shipping.
Acid Defender is a really cool concept game/Audio experiement. Its a synthesizer which a note for each column with the tone depending on where the white box is. Only there are little red “bullets” that fly into the screen and you have to move the notes to dodge them, because if one of the bullets hits a note you lose that beat.
In doing so you change the music, creating a continually changing piece of digital music, and a fun but stressful game.
I’ve only played this on a browser and the site says it only works in Chrome, but I think I game like this would come into it’s own on a tablet PC (iPad,Android whatever).
There is also a “Jam Mode” which allows you to just make music.
The furniture designs of Tembolat Gugkaev are quite cool, but they were an absolute bitch to find… I love the above illuminated shelling unit, it’s both beautiful and relatively practical. The Library Chair below looks awesome too, but I’m not sure I’d have anywhere to put it.
I think I’d also feel a little like Dumont from Tron with all that chair behind me…
This pendant which is in the shape of a heart container from The Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword is quite cute. It’s by The Pixelsmithy, and will apparently retail for $22 but is only available to pre-order at the moment.
Interestingly they debuted on Reddit, I think they know their target market…
Found this amazing image, looked at it and thought that is a nice picture of an eye, why have they covered their face in bubbles. Then I realised it’s just a sink draining. Someone in the comments on Reddit stitched it together to make sink eyes! Which is really creepy…
These Art Nouveau images are by Artist Melissa Somerville (Deviant Art Page), and feture characters from the Legend of Zelda series. Her Deviant Art page is full of cool illustrations based on among other things the Zelda Universe and the Okami Universe.
I can’t seem to find a fill size image of the Link and Zelda Images above just a Triptych.
