These two T-Shirts featuring a Steam Punk Optimus Prime and a Steam Punk Soundwave are pretty cool, I especially love Optimus’ top hat and the fact that it looks like Soundwave transforms into a music box. They are both available from We Love Fine for $25 each… Maybe next month…
Nice little infographic that tells you what the real world inspiration for the design of most of the generation 1 Autobots was.
Now all we need is a Decepticon version although I suspect that most of them would just be F15 Eagles.
I don’t often admit to this, but a very long time ago (20 years if not more) I tried to become a wargamer… I say tried because it never happened, I bought a lot of miniatures then discovered that when you live in Saudi Arabia there aren’t very many places to actually wargame.
Anyway, that and the fact that this is a Transformers themed custom miniature are just two of the many reasons I find this piece by “madscuzzy” (Deviant Art Page) awesome, the other reasons mainly have to do with the fact that it is in fact actually awesome…
You can read a full interview with the creator over at Tabeltop Geeks, I’m not going to replicate that here. They also have in progress images of the piece.
On a slight tangent, many many years ago one of my many internet handles was Skuzzy so in a parallel universe you could be reading this on Skuzzy.net…
This is why it pays to pay attention to the incoming links to your blog, I noticed that someone had posted a link to the LEGO GameBoy Transformer I posted a while back on the GameFAQs forum, someone else has pointed out that the guy who made it has not posted a how to with a complete part list on Instructables.
This hat is available by BeeBeeKins on Etsy, it reminds me a little of MegaMan Helmets I posted a while back, but it’s by someone completely different, and while MegaMan is cool Optimus Prime is awesome!
These images by Tony Fleecs depict famous Geek Icons on the cover of pulp novels, A host of characters including Emma Frost, Batgirl, Harly Quin, Mary Jane, Padme, Princess Leia, Princess Peach, Rogue, Gambit, Super Girl, and Wonder Woman all grace these covers. Also scroll to the bottom for a sad little bonus image I found on his Deviant Art profile…
I didn’t think this scene from Transformers the movie could be more sad but somehow with the cuteness added it’s even sadder…
One of the most iconic scenes of the original Transformers TV show was the battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron on top of the Hoover Dam. Artist NinjaInk whose work I’ve posted here before has recreated this scene by replacing the main characters with samurai armour.
You can buy this T-Shirt from RedBubble for £16. This isn’t the first time I’ve posted a Transformers Samurai crossover, although the style here is completely different to the one in the image I posted by creatureBox.
Update: I should have skimmed through NinjaInks gallery before posting this, I’ve found a similar image with Snake Eyes and whoever the white ninja in Cobra was from G.I.Joe/Action Force:
Throne of Screams by Brinkerhoff imagines StarScream on the Iron Throne. The crown he wears in the Transformers movie is a nice touch but I can’t get past the fact that the colours on this image seem a bit too dark.
If it tickles your fancy you have 24 hours (Probably less by the time you read this) to get it off of Ript Apparel.
UPDATE (27-06-2012 or 06-27-2012 depending on which side of the Atlantic you happen to be on): This has recently been posted on GameFAQs and someone there pointed out that there is a Instrubtable giving you the parts list for this. I’ve also blogged about that.
If you wanted to condense my childhood toys into a single artefact you’d struggle to beat this creation by Julius of MocPages. It’s a Nintendo GameBoy made out of Lego that is also a Transformer! Based roughly on Sound Wave the detail on this piece is immense, the the batteries turn into his guns, and the Tetris Cartridge actually transforms into something that looks an aweful lot like Lazer Beak.
What’s more it’s not his only Nintendo Transformer made out of Lego, he’s also made a Nintendo Light Gun Transformer entitled PlasmaShock this looks like it’s based on the Decepticon Jet toys (Why not Megatron?):
This ring was posted on Deviant Art by TheBoog17:
The setting of this ring was custom made for a customer using our 3Design CAD CAM software and cast in 14k white gold.
The setting is designed to look like the symbol of an evil robot organization. The mask setting is two sided, and the prongs holding the Moissanite gemstone in place are the robot’s horns, which I thought was pretty cool.
The ring in this picture is blown up quite a bit, so as you can see the fine detail work is mind boggling.
