I’ve posted a lot of stuff by Black Milk here before, and I seem to post a lot of Pantone things too. Today the two converge with these Pantone Leggings! I have not evidence that this is actually by Black Milk as I can’t find it on their website, but that is often the case with their designs.

I love this Buttersafe comic, it shows how some people can over dramatize things and how different people see things differently.

This is actually quite impressive, especially how often the cat gets it right…

It almost seems like the dust hasn’t settled on the last Carrie remake (The Rage). Now I learn that they are making another one. I didn’t think much of this until I found out that Chloe Grace Moretz is the actress who played Hit-Girl in Kick Ass. I’m terrible at remembering the names of actors and hardly ever pay attention to them, but she did a fairly good job in Kick Ass and she’ll have 3 years of maturity to add to the part.

It could be good. To be honest so long as it has the phrase “They’re all going to laugh at you” in the script I’ll be happy…

I was skimming through the website of Yiying Lu The person who designed the Fail Whale and noticed that she’d done the design for the label of ASDA’s own brand California wine…

I can only find the “California Fruity White Wine” on ASDA’s website but that doesn’t mean they don’t have the others in store.

Hows that for a nice bit of social networking trivia?

Update: I’ve also found the Rose, Zinfandel and Juicy Red on ASDA’s website.

The “Fail Whale” is a fairly iconic image that anyone who’s used twitter has probably seen at some point, unless you never use the web interface or have been really lucky. This cake was created by Mariana Pugliese a cake designer from Buenos Aires.

Interestingly the Fail Whale was designed by a Chinese illustrator Yiying Lu and was originally an elephant:

I bought the new Garbage album today, I’d listened to a couple of the tracks on YouTube and my impression was they sounded okay, but there was something wrong with them that I couldn’t put my finger on. I’ve now listened to the whole album twice in the background while working and I think I’ve realized what the problem is.

I don’t think I could have listened to any of the previous Garbage albums for the first time in the background. Shirley Manson’s voice exudes so much power and (for want of a better word) sex that you are drawn into it, or at least it did…

There are hints of that power in some of the songs, “Battle in Me” for example has it’s moments and, but it never quite reaches the intensity of their previous albums. ”Man on a Wire” Is, I think, one of the closest songs to their old levels of intensity but it’s still only a 10 when to be honest I expect Garbage to have turned it up to 11. This album is Garbage by numbers it’s unmistakably Garbage (the band obviously not refuse) and it’s not half bad, but it’s what to me makes Garbage not just another band and that makes me sad.

Note as I’ve been listening to it in the background I’ve not been listening to lyrics, which I probably should have, Garbage normally have quite evocative lyrics, but to me Garbage are about the music and Shirley Manson’s voice. Mostly Shirley Manson’s voice actually, and what’s wrong with this album is Shirley seems to be phoning in her voice, it’s beautiful but like I said before it’s jut missing that extra level of sex.

I have no doubt that this album will grow on me, but it should’t have to… At this point I should probably make some kind of joke about this album being “Not My Kind of Garbage” but to be honest I can’t be bothered. I’m not angry, I’m just a little disappointed.

Probably because they brought in the crowds and because they are an item of national pride.
