Modern Myths

Today’s Shirt Woot t-shirt re-imagines the legend of Zelda in the art style commonly found on ancient Greek pottery.

I find this oddly apt given Link’s predilection with smashing pots.

The Other Princesses Nouveau

Artist Kishokahime has put together a set of art nouveau images of the other princesses, you know the characters that Disney doesn’t own.

It’s quite good… Above we have Lydia from Beatlejuice and Amalthia from the Last Unicorn and below we have Sorsha from Willow, Black Lady from Sailor Moon, Lili from Legend, Malta from Sea Prince and the Fire Child, The Childlike Empress from Neverending Story, Crysta from Fern Gully, ThumbelinaOdette from The Swan Princess, Sarah from Labrynth, and Anastasia

The Cutest Coal Ornament

PREORDER - Coal Ornament

This Christmas Tree ornament is possibly one of the oddest gifts one could give somone. On the one hand you are essentially giving somone a lump of coal, which is a big Christmas no no,  on the other you are giving them one og the cutest things in the world!

They are available to pre-order from Steff Bomb on Etsy and cost just $15 (£9.70) + shipping.

Legend of Zelda Art Nouveau

These Art Nouveau images are by Artist Melissa Somerville (Deviant Art Page), and feture characters from the Legend of Zelda series. Her Deviant Art page is full of cool illustrations based on among other things the Zelda Universe and the Okami Universe.

I can’t seem to find a fill size image of the Link and Zelda Images above just a Triptych.

Awesome “Quadtych” Tree Painting

48x24 Original Modern Abstract Heavy Texture Impasto Acrylic Painting Landscape Tree Wall Decor "365 Days of Happiness"

I love this image of a tree by QiQiGallery available on Etsy, it’s labeled as a modern abstract but I like to think that each panel represents a season, I don’t know if that was the intention. You can buy this for $365 US + shipping from Canada. If you like what you see the same gallery has a number of other paintings in a similar style.

I searched for a word for the equivalent of a triptych but with four images the best I could come up with was “Quiptych” or “Quadtych” there appear to be Flickr groups for both…

Biodegradable Graffiti Made of Living Moss

I stumbled onto the image below which tells you how to make moss graffiti in simple steps, I did a quick Google and also found an instructables article on this and another that suggests beer instead of butter milk. All in all the idea is pretty neat, although I think moss can be a bitch to get rid of.

I wonder how long it will be before someone starts using this technique and a plastic stencil to do Banksy-esque graffiti using moss.
