Weird Shoes…

Scary-Beautiful

I’m a guy I only vaguely understand high heels, but these just look painful. Imagine being in a constant whatever-the-word-for-when-ballerinas-stand-on-their-tippie-toes-is all the time you wear these shoes… You probably wont fall over, at least not forward, but still that just looks uncomfortable.

They are by Amsterdam based designer  Leanie van der Vyver in collaboration with a Dutch shoe designer René van den Berg according to my source article, although I’m not sure they realise that Amsterdam is also in the Netherlands…

“The user must point their foot to insert into the shoe’s modified vamp which is inclined forward and tapers down to the toebox. ”
“Humans are playing God by physically and metaphorically perfecting themselves. Beauty is currently at an all time climax, allowing this project to explore what lies beyond perfection.
Scary Beautiful challenges current beauty ideals by inflicting an unexpected new beauty standard.”

I’ve said it one and I’ll say it again, that cannot be comfortable, which is my only criteria when buying new shoes. I mean honestly I can’t tell if that girl in the photo up top is trying to look sexy or take a dump… I’m guessing the former, but they have left it open to interpretation.

Film Canister Wedding Invitation

I’m sure I know a fair few people who would love these wedding invites, they are made from re-purposed film cannisters (soon to be a rare comodity?) . These were put together by Trevor and Larissa of ambient studios.

As two passionate photographers we decided to try to turn our mutual obsession with photography into a theme.  Since both Trevor & I enjoy shooting film on the side for personal projects it seemed only natural that we integrate this somehow into our day.  (apart from actually supplying our photographers with film for their cameras of course!)
The result is a collaboration between Trevor & I and an invitation that took an assembly line of 5 to create.  We had to make about 40 after all was said and done and I was lucky enough to have the help of my ladies and a little bit of wine!  (Thanks girls!)  It was tons of fun and completely worth it…
