I have a soft spot for posting pictures of People wearing Lichtenstein Makeup. someof my most viewed blog posts of all time are collections of Lichtenstein make up images and I’ve also posted a tutorial I found online which people seemed to like.
So I was pleasantly surprised when twitter suggested I follow @C0LOUREDLIGHTS (Tumblr) a Glasgow based make up artist and upon looking at her profile saw an example of Lichtenstein style make up. Looking through her Tumblr I found yet another which made me even happier:
Nice little pictorial story about the two paths that Robert Frost’s life might have taken. I’m not going to spout some sentimental crap about choosing your own path, but it’s interesting to think that one simple decision can change your whole life. If I’d not moved to Glasgow in 1998 I wonder where I would be now? I was 0.5% of a grade away from being accepted to a scholarship that would have seen me going to the states for University and having a career in the oil industry, 0.5% that’s it… The admission criteria was something like 90% and when all my scores were totalled up I had 89.5%
I’m glad I ended up where I ended up, and I’m happy, but I do sometimes wonder what the heck would have happened to me if I’d gotten that extra 0.5%.
This has been hanging on my wall for over a year now, it’s a painting by Green Castle Graphics of the final scene in Link’s Awakening. I’ve seen a couple of posts on Reddit that reminded me of it in particular a pearler bead rendition of a scene from Crono Trigger, which has to be my favourite game ever, so I figured I’d finally share this.
I saw this while walking past Green Castle Graphic’s stall at Sloan’s Market in Glasgow, and I had to buy it then and there. Here is the image in Green Castle’s Facebook Gallery before I bought it.
I’m sorely tempted to commission another image by Green Castle I just don’t know what… I have a couple of Ideas though.
Words cannot describe my love for shawarma, if you aren’t familiar with shawarma it’s chicken or lamb or more recently beef cooked on a huge rotating skewer rolled up in flat bread with some vegetables sauce (Garlic sauce or tahina depending on the meat) and occasionally french fries (Although I think the french fries are not part of the traditional recipe) and it is what I grew up eating. It’s a staple food in the middle east, it costs about 50p (I reackon 75 cents?) and it absolutely delicious.
I’ve had shawarma in London, Glasgow and even Tokyo I think if you told me I could only eat one food for the rest of my life I’d pick shawarma. But enough about that. I’ve noticed the internet has picked up on shawarma because of a passing reference to it in the Avengers.
This can only be a good thing as it will hopefully lead to shawarma being more mainstream, which means that I will have access to it wherever I go!
It seems I’ve been playing too much Fallout 3 and watching Avarinne play too much Fallout: New Vegas, I had two dreams in a row the past couple of nights about a nuclear apocalypse happening.
The first I don’t remember much about aside from the fact that East Kilbride had been hit by a Nuke and I was running away from the fallout. Society was breaking down and there was panic for food. It’s all a bit sketchy in that way that dreams fade if you don’t try write them down straight away.
The second last night I dreamt that there had been an nuclear apocalypse 1,000 years ago and somehow I’d slept through it and just woken up. I was holed up with a group of people in a large library in a largely destroyed London and we were fighting to survive.
Apparently no one could read the “Old text” in the books in the library, of course being from 1,000 years in the past I could. So I started looking for books of maps to aid with my foraging.
There was a race of goblin like people that only came out at night, they apparently had a history of raiding the library while everyone was asleep and everyone was scared of them. At one point I caught on of them in the act and it turned out the reason they were raiding the library was because they were obsessed with Disney, and were stealing Disney picture books. I apparently had my laptop with me and it had survived the 1,000 years I’d been asleep and had a collection of Disney movies on it. I offered to broker a peace treaty with the goblins by giving them copies of the Disney movies so that they could watch them.
Glasgow city council have this amazing campaign to stop illegal flyposting where they stick huge stickers on the posters saying “Cancelled”, in small print the stickers say that the poster is cancelled. But for the innocent by stander it looks like the event/ album launch etc is canceled.
I saw this on my way into town and almost died laughing.
Knowing Glasgow the 2nd coming was probably canceled due to bad weather, however it’s likely that it might also be due to a lack of interest.
