One of the most iconic scenes of the original Transformers TV show was the battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron on top of the Hoover Dam. Artist NinjaInk whose work I’ve posted here before has recreated this scene by replacing the main characters with samurai armour.
You can buy this T-Shirt from RedBubble for £16. This isn’t the first time I’ve posted a Transformers Samurai crossover, although the style here is completely different to the one in the image I posted by creatureBox.
Two posts about Artist Jeffery Thomas (… I noticed while looking at his gallery that he had a set of lovely “Twisted Disney Princesses” in his gallery…
Click on the images below for the full size images, I’ve copied over his notes about each of the images so you can see the background “story” he’s contrived for the image… Or you could just go to the gallery on Deviant Art.
Related and still on a Disney vibe see his Sorcerer’s Apprentice/The Apprentice from the force Unleashed mashup…
I’ve seen one too many Darth Vader samurai images in my time but I’ve never seen an Optimus Prime one, which is odd because Optimus in my mind embodies the ethos of a Samurai much more than Darth Vader does. Also the Transformers are a Japanese creation, where Star Wars is only loosely based on Hidden Fortress by Akira Kurusawa.
What I love about this T-Shirt is the fact that I saw it thought up a title to use for a blog post about it and then looked at the name the artist had given it and found that they had called it the same thing. What I don’t like about it is that it’s only available for 24 hours and I can’t afford any extra expenditure at the moment…
The T-Shirt depicts Cloud and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII re-imagined as samurai, pretty well done I think.
Warner Brothers have just released a trailer for Sucker Punch, a movie by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) and to be quite frank it looks awesome!
The story is set in the 1950’s and is about a girl who is about to be lobotomised and her friends trying to escape from a lunatic asylum. I assume like Pans labrynth the film probably plays games with what is real and what isn’t, but just from seeing that trailer I want to see this film.
