Nooooooooooooooooo! But maybe yes? But Nooooo!

Alcon Entertainment the people behind The Book of Eli, P.S. I Love You and The Wicker Man have picked up the rights to do Blade Runner Sequels and Prequels… note the plural, I don’t know if the plural was intentional but it could be…

Blade Runner is one of the tightest Science fiction movies ever released, it still packs a punch now almost 30 years after it was released, it doesn’t need to be remade, or to have sequels/prequels made. It works stand alone as it is.

But a little devil in the back of my mind keeps saying “What if?” What if they get it right, what if they capture Blade Runners visual style, it’s atmosphere it’s magic, that could be awesome! But no! I must maintain my cynical edge! Look what they did to Transformers! Look what they did to G.I. Joe, TMNT… Every Series from the 80’s that gets rehashed, remade etc just gets raped for intellectual property because it will sell purely on nostalgia… “There was Battlestar Galactica that was pretty awesome” pipes up the demon in the back of my mind… I’ll give him that, but in the grand scale of things Battlestar is the exception rather than the rule.

I really want this to be awesome, but to be honest I doubt it will be.

Dear Square-Enix: Please Move On…

When Hammer of Games of State asked on twitter if anyone he knew had completed FFXIII and would play FFXIII-2 I thought he was referring to Final Fantasy XIII Versus which is AFAIK yet to be released, but no, Squeenix have decided that Final Fantasy XIII wasn’t bad enough they are making a sequel… Seriously…

The internet is already teeming with whiny fanboys asking why they didn’t do a sequel of one of the good Final Fantasies so I’m not going to go there. I guess it makes sense, you spend millions developing the IP and Models for a game these days why not write a sequel to the game and recycle the characters and 3D models? Meh… I actually care so little about this I can’t be bothered ranting about it, that is saying something…

On a completely unrelated note is the music at the end of that video not from Bleach?
